Punto Ciego by RUBBERBANDance
An acrobatic dance show that will move you
At 8:00 pm on Friday, November 20, 2009, spectators at Salle Pauline-Julien will be awed by choreographer Victor Quijada's Punto Ciego - an athletic and daring dance show that turned out to be a resounding success last spring at the Cinquième Salle of Place des Arts. This choreographer-dancer and founder of the RUBBERBANDance Group is already familiar with Salle Pauline-Julien: in February of 2007, he presented Perspective élastique, a unique production whose high-energy dancers blew audiences away.
Along these same lines, Punto Ciego takes a look at our fascination with the notion of celebrity — a hot topic in today's society — broached with a healthy dose of humour by the company's six performers. Exploring human relationships — the connection with others and with ourselves — inevitably leads to defining ourselves in comparison with the rest of society. Thus, you will be engaged in discovering Quijada's inventiveness, a seamless blend of contemporary movement spiked with street dance and ballet. The original music score, which combines fragments of classical pieces and techno music, as well as the creative lighting design, the set decoration and video, all contribute to the uniqueness and brilliantly captivating character of Punto Ciego.
"Immensely moving and acrobatic, with unimaginable and unbelievable movements that blend so seamlessly classical ballet and street dance, it's almost impossible to tell them apart."
