Pointe Claire: Geller wins District 1
Incumbent District 1 city councillor Rob Geller increased his hold on the district, which includes Pointe Claire Village and the Cedar Park sections of Pointe Claire south. Geller, who triumphed in 2005 with a scant seven-vote majority, doubled up former city councillor Claude Cuillerier, grabbing about 64 per cent of the approximately 1,250 votes cast.

Geller said the mandate from voters is clear and that he plans on carrying out that mandate – and working to revitalize Pointe Claire Village.

"While I’m personally very happy with the outcome, I view it more as an obligation to deliver the expectations of the voters. It was virtually unanimous among the almost 2,000 people I spoke to during the campaign that there is a good level of satisfaction in Pointe Claire. But the common theme was that they want a substantial revitalization of the Pointe Claire Village and improved communications between the city and residents," he said.

Geller said the larger margin of victory and high voter turnout were a credit to his electoral team.

"It’s also a huge testament to the dedication and passion of a fantastic team of volunteers. I’m greatly indebted and can’t wait to savour this with them," he said.
