QUEBEC - The head of Quebec's federation of municipalities says the provincial government has fallen down on its promise to hook up remote regions to the Internet.
Bernard Genereux said Thursday that between 400 and 600 communities don't have access to the World Wide Web.
He wants the government to invest the $20 million announced in the last budget to get the communities hooked up.
Genereux said the Internet is a vital tool these days to help remote communities develop.
The provincial Liberals promised in 2002 that a priority in their first mandate would be to ensure that all Quebecers would have access to high-speed Internet but they have yet to keep that promise, Genereux said.
