BORDEN-CARLETON, P.E.I. - A global positioning system tracking site indicates marathoner Jen Alexander has completed a 32-kilometre swim taking in all three Maritime provinces in one day.
The Halifax woman entered the water around 2:30 a.m. Monday near Amherst Shore, N.S., and the GPS site put her on shore near Borden-Carleton, P.E.I., around 11 p.m.
Attempts to reach Alexander on her cellphone were not immediately successful.
She reached the New Brunswick shore near Cape Tormentine by noon Monday and then crossed the Northumberland Strait toward the Island.
It was her second effort to complete the swim - the 33-year-old marathoner was forced to abort her last attempt in mid-July due to nausea and strong currents.
Alexander has Type 1 diabetes and was hoping the swim would raise awareness about the disease.
