OTTAWA - One man is dead following a fire Thursday morning at a nursing home in east-end Ottawa.
Several other residents were treated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters were called to the Rothwell Heights Terrace just after 10 a.m. and arrived to see thick smoke billowing out of the building.
Staff had already begun evacuating residents.
One man found in a room where the fire apparently began was taken from the building without life-signs and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire crews had the flames extinguished within an hour.
