TORONTO - Toronto-bound drivers from east and north of the city can expect a lengthy commute following a crash on Highway 401 overnight.
A tractor-trailer hauling paper goods crashed and burst into flames as it was exiting the highway to go north on Highway 404. The driver is in hospital with second-degree burns.
Police say the truck rammed supports for an overpass and exploded into a fireball at one of Canada's busiest highway exchanges.
The accident caused structural damage to the overpass supports and to a steel guard rail.
This means the ramp to the Don Valley Parkway and Highway 404 from the 401 express lanes will be closed for most of the day.
