TORONTO - The lifeless body of a 62-year-old sailor was pulled from Lake Ontario early today after he went overboard just after midnight.
Search and rescue crews, including a helicopter, scoured the area after receiving a distress call from a sailboat four kilometres south of Whitby, Ont. Authorities found the body of the St. Catharines man several hours later about three kilometres from the sailboat, which was still occupied by one person. The name of the man has not been released.
Sgt. Albert Valks says Durham region police don't suspect foul play.
The boat left St. Catharines on Friday afternoon.
Authorities say the weather was calm during the incident. They continue to investigate.
