MONTREAL - Police are trying to unravel the story behind a body that was found in a minivan being driven by an alleged drunk driver east of Montreal.
Repentigny police got a 4 a.m. call Thursday from a person complaining about a motorist who was driving erratically.
The vehicle, which was being driven by a 54-year-old Montreal man, was pulled over and officers saw something suspicious inside.
Officers discovered upon closer examination that the object was a body, said Sgt. Melanie Paul, a provincial police spokeswoman.
She says the investigation was then transferred to the provincial police major crime division and the suspected drunk driver was questioned by investigators.
Paul says there will be an autopsy to determine the cause of death as well as the sex and identity of the body.
The driver is facing at least one charge of impaired driving.
