LAKEFIELD, Ont. - A tractor-trailer carrying 15,000 litres of liquid argon gas crashed into a ditch north of Peterborough, Ont., early Wednesday morning.
Police say the driver was attempting a turn near the town of Lakefield when he lost control and rolled into a ditch just before 4 a.m.
As a precaution, authorities have evacuated a 1.5-kilometre radius of the sparsely populated area around the scene.
The driver was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Police say provincial transport and environment officials have been called to the scene.
Liquid argon is a non-flammable gas used in a variety of industries.
