REGINA - The driver of a Jeep is being praised for helping two people escape from an apartment block fire in Regina.
Fire department spokeswoman Angela Prawzick says the tenants were trapped on the second floor of the building after the blaze broke out Monday night.
Prawzick says the passing driver steered onto the sidewalk, allowing both people to jump onto the vehicle's roof from their suite windows.
No one in the building was seriously injured in the fire that investigators have determined was deliberately set.
Prawzick says people in the block didn't believe a fire had erupted because of several false alarms in the past.
The damage estimate is about $100,000.
