FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Rescue teams are using eight boats and a helicopter in their search for a 22-year-old Fort St. John man who was swept away in the waters of the Pine River.
RCMP say Clayton Russ was swimming with friends in the river near its junction with the Peace River Friday when he was pulled under the water.
His friends immediately called 911 and a search began.
It was called off as the light faded but resumed early Sunday morning.
Teams from throughout the Peace region are participating in the search.
Police do not believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in the disappearance.
