Woman drowns after being swept away from raft on Chilliwack River

CHILLIWACK, B.C. - A 23-year-old Victoria woman is dead after being swept away from an overturned raft during a guided tour on the Chilliwack River.
Police say the woman was wearing proper safety gear when the raft flipped late Saturday afternoon. She was separated from the boat and swept away in the river.
Chilliwack RCMP say the woman's body was found trapped underneath river debris.
Victim service workers were called in to help those involved in the incident.
An investigation into the incident is being done by Chilliwack RCMP and the B.C. Coroner's Office.
The woman has not been identified.
