Small forest fire erupts near homes in Abbotsford, B.C.

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - A small forest fire is burning near homes on a forested mountainside in the Fraser Valley city of Abbotsford.

An eyewitness says the fire appears to be confined to a forestry debris pile but that it is within a few hundred metres of some homes on the Sumas Mountain neighbourhood.

Ron Dahl says a helicopter is dropping water on the flames and fire trucks had moved to a slope behind the blaze.
