OTTAWA - Two navy petty officers are facing charges after a classified military computer was hacked into more than a year ago.
The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service laid the charges Tuesday against petty officers (second class) Sylvia Reid and Janet Sinclair
They each face single counts of sabotage, conspiracy, mischief in relation to data, and wilful property damage.
They're accused of corrupting a government database in July 2007.
The military isn't revealing what was on the computer, and it's unclear if any data was damaged or destroyed.
At the time of the alleged incident, both officers were posted at the Canadian Forces Support Unit in Ottawa.
Reid is now serving aboard HMCS Regina, while Sinclair works as a member of the Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters in Esquimalt, B.C.
It will be up to the director of military prosecutions to decide whether the pair will face court martial or trial in civilian court.
