THUNDER BAY, Ont. - The province is providing funding for two projects aimed at helping aboriginal community justice programs in Thunder Bay.
The projects are intended to reduce crime and victimization among First Nations, Metis and Inuit.
About $96,000 will go to a program for aboriginal youth and adults that brings together the accused, the victim and council members to address the problem.
The province is also giving $41,000 to provide Thunder Bay's courts with specialized information on aboriginal offenders when making sentencing decisions.
Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant says the measures will give the aboriginal community a voice in the justice system.
