Bus service extension

Public transit users in the West Island have better service on two of the area's major bus lines since this Monday, as the 209 line linking Roxboro and Beaconsfield train stations and the 470 express shuttling from Pierrefonds to Côte Vertu extended their running hours.

"Adding service on Sources Boulevard will be welcomed by residents and employers of the industrial/commercial sector in Pointe Claire," said Pointe Claire mayor Bill McMurchie.

"As of tonight, the 470 will be available until 9 p.m. at night," said STM spokesperson Isabelle Tremblay Monday.

As for the 209, it will pass by every half hour from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and at the same interval from 7 p.m. to midnight.

At a public consultation last December, an STM commission heard out West Islanders' complaints about local public transit and presented their plans for improvement in the service.

The two bus extensions mark the first part of a series of planned extensions presented by the STM to West Islanders at a public consultation last December. In June, line 210, which connects Fairview shopping centre and John Abbott College, will start running all year long instead of only during school time, and line 219 from Fairview to Baie d'Urfé's industrial park is expected to take five minutes less to travel due to minor changes on its trajectory.
